There was a plan to raise Rs 2,500 crore through the bank’s ten -year bond. The size of the base issue was Rs 500 crore and Rs 2,000 crore was to be raised through the Green Shoe option. Inner sources in the market said that the Exim Bank expected a tough level for its issue of up to Rs 2,500 crore as it issues low bonds in the ten -year category.

Sources said that Exim Bank received bids with a cut off yield of 6.86 per cent for Rs 1,655 crore, 6.87 per cent for Rs 1,955 crore and Rs 6.88 per cent for Rs 2,705 crore. Sources said that from the perspective of an issuer, these levels were slightly higher and more than NTPC cutoff, which raised Rs 4,000 crore at 6.84 per cent through 10 -year bond.
