Major drug company Cipla Limited and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals are ready to increase their manufacturing scope in the US. This will help them to deal with the challenges faced by changes in the fee system. The US market contributes about a quarter to the total income of both companies.

A person aware of the case said that Cipla is actively expanding its business in America. America is a major global market of respiratory and cancer generic drugs. He said that currently the company operates in the US with Massachusetts and four manufacturing factories in New York. These factory focus on the production of respiratory products, oral therapy sachets tablets and capsules. The company believes that complex generic and peptide -based drugs are two areas where it can have long -term strategic growth.

Meanwhile, Glenmark has expressed hope that her injectable unit in North Carolina’s Monroe will be smooth in FY 2026. The company is also ready to expand it. The factory received a warning letter in 2023 after inspection of the US drug regulator USAFDA.

Glenmark Chairman and Managing Director Glenn Saladana said that the company is benefiting from the monro factory. He told Business Standard, “Although it will depend on how the atmosphere in the US will be, but we will be happy to further expand in the Monroe factory. In the injected category, the US has to face the shortage of medicines. In such a situation, this factory strengthens the position of the company. Saladanha said, “Obviously this can help American consumers and this makes can suit the current strategy of these America.”

In view of the possibility of increasing duty on imported drugs from India and other places, the local presence has become quite important at the local level. A person aware of Cipla’s plan said, “America’s contribution to the company’s income is already enough and we hope that its stake will increase continuously in the next few years.”
