Manufacturing activities at eight months high – manufacturing activities at eight months high

India’s manufacturing activities reached an eight -month high in March. A private survey said on Tuesday that the ‘tremendous demand’ to the companies helped in sales and this led to a sluggishness of more than a year.

HSBC India Manufacturing Managers Index (PMI) improved in March to 58.1 in March while it was at 14 months low in February at 56.3. The index was compiled by S&P Global. The figure above 50 under PMI reflects expansion in production activities while the figure below 50 reflects contraction. The march figure was under the scope of expansion for the 45th consecutive month.

According to the survey, ‘International order growth was recorded in March despite the sluggishness. Companies had to use their reserves to meet the growing demand of customers, resulting in the fastest decline in the stores prepared since January 2022.
