Media companies got a slight relief from the festive season. Possible advertising revenue growth was affected in the third quarter of FY 2025 due to frequent inclination towards digital platforms and dull desirement expenses in major areas.
This sluggishness in the advertising revenue of these companies came at a time when they had fallen in their traditional advertising revenue in the second quarter (July-September quarter) of FY 2025 and it was hoped that the festive season would prove to be helpful in their advertising revenue. .
Zee Entertainment Enterprises (JEEL) Deputy Chief Officer and Chief Financial Officer Mukund Galgali said in the company’s analyst call, “However, we saw some boom in October near Diwali. But this pace soon slowed down in November and December. He said that from the perspective of Zee Entertainment, the impact of weak consumption and FMCG advertisement expenses were seen more in urban areas and Hindi speaking areas. In contrast, markets of south parts and other languages are still relatively better.
Zee Entertainment advertisement declined by 8 percent to Rs 940.6 crore on an annual basis in the third quarter of Revenue FY 2025. However, on a quarterly basis, the company’s advertising expenditure was increased by 4 per cent.
Similarly, Reliance Industries-backed Network 18 Media and Investments recorded a 11 per cent decline in the advertising business for their TV news business in the October-December quarter. The company’s revenue also increased slightly on a quarterly basis. The advertisement revenue of Sun TV network owned by Kalanidhi Maran in the December quarter also declined by 6.5 per cent to Rs 332.17 crore on an annual basis.
