The Enforcement Directorate said on Tuesday that it had seized 707 acres of Ambi Valley of Lonavala of Sahara India and its assistant units. The market price of this land is around Rs 1,460 crore. This land was purchased benami and for this the units of Dhan Sahara Group. The Directorate has taken action under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
The Directorate had launched an investigation against M / s Hamara India Cooperative Society Limited and others on the FIR lodged by Odisha, Bihar and Rajasthan Police. Apart from this, more than 500 FIRs were lodged against the units of Sahara Group and its related persons. Out of this, more than 300 FIRs were registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.
It was alleged that investors were cheated, their funds were forcibly invested without investors’ consent.
