State Bank employees decreased but not because of AI – State Bank Employees Decreased but not trust of ai

The reason for the decline in the number of employees in the State Bank of India (SBI) in the last few years is not to be admitted in the same number of number than annual retirement. A senior bank official has given this information. He has said that the decline in the number of employees has not been caused by the use of any advanced technology including Artificial Intelligence (AI) based intervention.

SBI Deputy Managing Director and Digital Banking and Transformation Head Nitin Chugh said during the Microsoft AI Industry Boardroom-BFSI version, “There has been a slight decrease in the number of our total employees but it has nothing to do with technology.”

Chugh said, ‘Usually we recruit equal to the number of employees retiring every year. But the number of employees retiring has increased compared to the employees recruited in the last few years. The number of employees recruited is certain. We are appointing 2,000 probationary under probation every year and we also keep a certain number of trainee officers every year.
He said that SBI is appointing a large number of specialist people. The country’s largest lender SBI is doubling its data science team. The bank has also appointed a digital marketing team and is also recruiting technology knowledgeable people.

Chugh said that the nature of jobs will change in the coming time. He said that a person with the right skill to use technical input in daily jobs would be better than those who do not have this skill. However, Chugh also rejected the apprehensions that the fast use of AI could eliminate jobs in the banking sector.

According to SBI’s annual report for FY 2024, the number of bank employees is 2,32,296 by the end of 31 March 2024. Out of the total SBI employees, 1,10,116 officers are in the category, 92,514 clerks and 29,666 subordinate employees are in the category. The number of SBI employees has decreased by more than 17,000 since the financial year 2020. In FY 2020, the bank’s employee Aadhaar was 2,49,448.
